Aircraft Maintenance Engineers

Turboprops on the line in the morning, a jet in for checks after lunch. An expanding aviation maintenance business in Cairns, Queensland looks after many aircraft types for airline customers around Australia and the Pacific, and it is adding experienced engineers to the hangar.
Two groups are wanted: LAMEs holding B1.1/B2 licences, and qualified AMEs with solid hands-on maintenance experience. Beyond a new post, you get to use your technical skills in a professional Australian aviation setting, work on a wider range of aircraft and grow through ongoing training and approvals.
If you hold a South African licence, gather your licence documents, type ratings and logbook records before applying, as your experience will need to be checked.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out both line and heavy maintenance on aircraft, including scheduled and unscheduled inspections
- Find and fix aircraft defects, troubleshooting systems and components
- Do servicing, inspections and component changes, and support turnarounds and line work
- Work on regional turboprop and jet aircraft
- Fill in technical records and maintenance paperwork accurately
- Make sure all work follows approved procedures, CASA requirements and applicable aviation standards
- Spot technical problems and report them, working closely with fellow engineers and maintenance staff
- Take part in aircraft type training and further approval programs
Requirements & Eligibility
- LAME – B1.1 / B2 candidates: current CASA B1.1 or B2 Aircraft Maintenance Licence
- Q400 experience is essential
- Dash 8 Classic 100/200/300 experience highly regarded
- B737 NG or MAX experience advantageous, and narrow-body or wide-body aircraft experience beneficial
- A strong practical aircraft maintenance background with sound knowledge of aviation safety and maintenance procedures
- AME candidates: minimum 5 years' aviation industry experience plus relevant aircraft maintenance qualifications
- Practical line maintenance experience preferred, while heavy maintenance experience is considered
- Turboprop experience advantageous
- Strong skills in troubleshooting and defect rectification
- Able to work safely and efficiently in a demanding maintenance environment
