Imagine owning a portfolio of SME clients: you handle their tax returns and financial statements, answer their questions directly and work through Division 7A, CGT and FBT issues. That is the job for the Senior Accountant this established Queensland practice is hiring in Cairns.
You must be able to prove Australian public practice experience and solid tax know-how, and be comfortable dealing with business owners. The team is friendly and collaborative, learning is encouraged, and the right person has a structured path toward a Manager position.

Key Responsibilities
- Run the accounting and tax work for your own portfolio of SME clients
- Talk directly with clients about accounting, tax and business matters and build long-term professional relationships with them
- Prepare tax returns and financial statements accurately and without delay
- Handle Division 7A, Capital Gains Tax (CGT) and Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT) matters
- Help clients with accounting and business advisory needs, including advisory projects and other value-added services
- Make sure all work meets a high professional and compliance standard
- Work closely with colleagues so clients get consistent results
- Grow your technical and leadership skills with a view to moving into a Manager role
Requirements & Eligibility
- CA or CPA qualified, or close to finishing
- At least 4 years of Australian Public Practice experience
- A strong hands-on background in Australian tax compliance and proven work with SME clients
- Able to manage client relationships on your own
- Hands-on knowledge of Division 7A, CGT and FBT
- Excellent spoken and written communication, with strong professional presentation and people skills
- High attention to detail, a reliable work ethic and a professional attitude
- Shows willingness to learn and take on more responsibility, and works well in a collaborative accounting team
