The work must be high quality, whether you are working solo or with the rest of a professional crew.
South African boilermakers and welders should have their trade certificates on hand, as trades are usually assessed again for Australia.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce welds and fabrications that match the engineering specifications, switching between MIG, TIG and Stick as each project needs
- Interpret blueprints, engineering drawings and technical specifications
- Build, put together and fix steel components so they meet quality standards
- Operate workshop machines and fabrication equipment with safety and efficiency in mind
- Inspect your finished pieces to confirm they are accurate and meet the specification
- Follow workplace safety rules without exception and keep your bay tidy, organised and hazard-free
- Hit production deadlines with little supervision and work with your supervisor and crew towards project goals
Requirements & Eligibility
- Holds a trade qualification as a Welder, Boilermaker, Fabricator, or an equivalent
- Track record of welding and fabrication in a workshop, and proficient with MIG, TIG and Stick processes
- Can make sense of engineering drawings and technical documentation and work from them
- Detail-focused and dedicated to top-quality workmanship, needing minimal supervision to work independently
- Communicates well and brings a positive attitude and dependable work ethic
