Climbing Arborist

One day you could be rigging and dismantling a big tree on a commercial job; the next, a small residential prune. A professional tree care team in the Bay of Plenty is hiring a Climbing Arborist to work across commercial, rural and residential sites around Whakatane.
You get good gear, paid training, solid workplace support and plenty of variety. Hourly rates are competitive and based on your skills and experience, plus extra allowances, paid lunch breaks and emergency callout rates. Eligible overseas applicants moving to New Zealand get relocation support.

Key Responsibilities
- Climb and work at height safely with professional arboricultural gear on commercial, rural and residential properties
- Do tree reductions and technical removals
- Handle rigging and controlled dismantling
- Run and look after specialist machinery and equipment
- Help on large commercial tree projects and finish smaller residential jobs
- Stick to planned work methods and site safety rules, working with ground staff to get projects done efficiently
- Spot chances to keep existing trees and vegetation
- Turn out for emergency tree work when needed
- Take part in regular paid training and keep standards high on every job
Requirements & Eligibility
- Level 3 or 4 Arboriculture qualification, or equivalent experience, plus relevant professional climbing arborist experience
- Competent at climbing, rigging and technical removals, and able to climb with minimal supervision
- Class 1 driver's licence essential
- Class 2 or Heavy Transport licence advantageous
- A strong commitment to workplace health and safety
- Honest, dependable and motivated, with good communication and teamwork
- Willing to take on more training and development
- International candidates with relevant qualifications and experience are welcome, and employer-supported work visa sponsorship is available for suitable candidates
